![]() the FLOOR PLANThe main communal rooms were positioned to take advantage of the views of the city. The materiality of the floor plan was chosen to reflect the matte vs. shiny textures found on an oyster’s shell. | ![]() the RCPThe lighting plan was inspired by oyster shucking. The lighting would start out extremely lustrous in the more communal areas and fade out to be almost complete matte once it reached the administrative and business areas. |

The Boston City Club’s target users were professionals between the ages of 25 and 40. They would typically work in the Downtown Crossing area of Boston or live in the Millennium Tower.
the PROCESS
Social clubs began in England in the 1800’s. On a recent trip to the UK, I noticed how almost every public park had a large bowling green. This inspired me to put a large, open green space in the center of my social club as a tribute to the history of the clubs themselves. The concept derived from words that are representative of oysters: luxury, opportunity, security, value, communal, etc. This project was rendered using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Kerkythea, and Photoshop.
